Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon on Wednesday opened a seminar for Israeli and Palestinian businesswomen.
The seminar, entitled "Women Making Business," was organized by MASHAV, Israel's National Agency for International Cooperation, in cooperation with the Israel-Palestine Chamber of Commerce, in order to train Palestinian women in the field of entrepreneurship.
In his welcoming words to the participants, Ayalon said that women have the power and the ability to influence and change society.
He added that Israelis and Palestinians can be partners not only in peace but also in economic development.
The deputy foreign minister reviewed the government's activities in improving the lives of the Palestinians and called on the Arab world to invest money in Palestinian economic development.
As part of the ongoing activities of the Carmel Center in Haifa, branches of MASHAV, which specialize in women empowerment, early childhood education, and small businesses, are holding special seminars for Israeli and Palestinian women under the title, "Women Build a New Reality."
Since 2004, 17 seminars have been conducted, with the participation of more than 500 Palestinian women.
