British Minister 'concerned' over Gaza hangings

British Minister for the Middle East Alistair Burt on Wednesday expressed "deep concern" over Hamas's execution of three men earlier in the week.
"The British Government opposes the death penalty in all circumstances as a matter of principle," he said.
"The UK has called repeatedly for the implementation in Gaza of the moratorium on the death penalty which is present in the West Bank. We hope that this moratorium will lead to the eventual abolition of the death penalty in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”
Hamas did not release the names of the three men, executed early Saturday at a Hamas-run security installation in Gaza City.
One was hanged after being found guilty by a Hamas court of “collaboration” with Israel. The other two were convicted on charges that included murder and homosexuality with a minor.
