Canada condemns Falk calls to boycott firms tied to W. Bank

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney called for UN special investigator Richard Falk's resignation following a call he made to boycott businesses that profit from settlements, The Montreal Gazette reported on Friday.
According to the Montreal Gazette report, the Canadian ministers accused Falk of trying to undermine efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
Questioning Falk's motives, Kenney said that "those efforts to single out the only Jewish country in the world for particularly unfair treatment or to target it, that sometimes becomes very worrisome as to what's behind this."
Falk submitted a report to the UN General Assembly on Thursday, saying international businesses that operate in the West Bank may face criminal and civil liability under international law.
