Canadian tourist claims abuse at hands of Israeli police

Police are investigating claims by a Canadian tourist that he was harassed and beaten by five cops in Tel Aviv last week, Army Radio reported on Sunday.
According to the report, the tourist traveled to Israel to attend a friend’s birthday party. Last week, he was in the Tel Aviv central bus station in hopes of catching a shuttle to meet a friend in Jerusalem.
Before he boarded the bus, he was allegedly accosted by five police officers, Army Radio reported. The officers demanded that the tourist empty his pockets and reveal all of his belongings.
The tourist was then led to believe that the officers were detaining him for further questioning. According to Army Radio, the tourist claimed that the policemen forced him into a stairwell in the bus station and proceeded to forcibly remove his clothing while covering his mouth so as to prevent him from calling for help.
