Chemical smell engulfs greater Tel Aviv area

Residents of the Gush Dan region around Tel Aviv complained of a sharp, chemical smell in the air, according to Israeli media reports.
The reports said that residents had complained to the Tel Aviv municipality and government ministries of a chlorine-like smell in the air.  The government agencies are said to be looking into the issue, but do not yet have an explanation.
The Environmental Protection Ministry says they've performed tests and that, whatever is causing the smell, it is not hazardous to public health. The ministry said it will continue searching for the source of the smell and running tests.
