Chile gets new defense, energy, labor ministers

SANTIAGO, Chile  — Chile's government announced a Cabinet shakeup following Thursday's surprise resignation by the defense minister.
Ena von Baer, secretary general of government ministers, said Friday that President Sebastian Pinera has named new people to head the defense, energy and labor ministries.
Sen. Andres Allamand will replace Jaime Ravinet as defense minister. Sen. Evelyn Matthei is the new labor minister. Mining Minister Laurence Golborne has been named to take over the energy ministry.
The new ministers will take their oath of office Sunday after the president returns from a trip to southern Chile.
