China says Syrian opposition delegation visited this week

BEIJING - China's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that a Syrian opposition delegation had visited the country this week and met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun.
"China is willing to maintain contacts and communication with relevant Syrian opposition groups," ministry spokesman Liu Weimin told a daily news briefing.
Beijing joined Moscow on the weekend to veto a draft United Nations Security Council resolution that would have backed an Arab plan urging President Bashar Assad to quit after months of worsening bloodshed. The veto was condemned by Western governments.
