Clinton arrives in Afghanistan, will meet Karzai

KABUL - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived on Wednesday in Kabul where she is due to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and other key political leaders, US officials said.
"The secretary wants to show our commitment to Afghanistan," one US official told reporters traveling with Clinton, saying she would continue her diplomatic efforts "in terms of both transition, standing with Afghanistan and working on a political resolution to the underlying conflict."
Clinton's visit follows several high profile attacks in the Afghan capital in recent months, including in September an attack on the US embassy and then the assassination of Karzai's top peace envoy, former President Burhanuddin Rabbani.
