Court extends custody of Arab Israelis suspected of spying

Two Arab Israeli political activists arrested in recent weeks on suspicion of spying for Hizbullah had their custody extended by a Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court on Wednesday during a closed-door session.
Prominent political activists Ameer Makhoul, 42, of Haifa, and Omar Abdo, 40, of Kfar Kana were arrested by the Shin Bet in late April and May.
Dozens of relatives and activists protested against the arrests outside of the court. The demonstration was watched over by large numbers of police, who prevented the protesters from coming near the court house.
