Court extends remand of husband suspected of killing wives

The Kfar Saba Magistrate’s Court on Sunday extended by eight days the remand of Shimon Cooper, 51, arrested last week on suspicion of orchestrating the murder of two of his ex-wives.
His lover, Dr. Mariah Zakotsky, an anesthesiologist and accomplice, was remanded until this Tuesday.
Cooper maintains his innocence, and has denied all police allegations against him.
Last Monday police arrested both Cooper and Zakotsky, following a lengthy investigation by the YAMAR central investigative unit into the death of Cooper’s second wife Gini Cooper, who died on August 21, 2009, in what police at the time ruled was natural causes.
Cooper’s previous wife, Orit Coopershmid also died in similar circumstances in January 1994.
