Petah Tikva Court Judge Hannah Gertel is expected to rule Monday morning about whether Labor can appoint Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon as the party's candidate for chairmanship of the Jewish National Fund/Keren Kayemet Le'Israel.Gertel has criticized the procedures Labor has used to select Simhon in response to petitions from current chairman Effi Stenzler. Labor officials, who accused Stenzler of playing dirty, have promised to act according to the party's constitution and the court's decision. The Ometz organization wrote Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein on Sunday against Simhon's appointment, calling for a cooling-off period before an agriculture minister can chair the JNF/KKL.
