'Dalet' says he never met with Katsav or his family

'Dalet,' a former police officer who has fraud-related criminal convictions, said Tuesday that the purpose of his investigation was to gather information prior to the trial of ex-president Moshe Katsav for rape.

The comments, made during an interview with Army Radio, came after a major investigation centering on suspicions that private investigators were hired to covertly gather information that would undermine key witnesses.

'Dalet' said that he did not understand what the fuss was about, and that he met his employer, but "never personally met Katav, his extended family, or his lawyers."

He also said that part of the investigation was to gather background information on the rape victim, “Aleph.”
