Danino: Police will act if Lior supporters get out of hand

Police Commissioner Insp.-Gen. Yochanan Danino said that police would take a firm stance against supporters of Rabbi Dov Lior who disrupted Jerusalem's public spaces, including blocking traffic flow. Rabbi Lior was arrested on Monday for alleged incitement to violence, and subsequent protests in Jerusalem saw clashes erupt between demonstrators and police officers.
Speaking from a rank-awarding ceremony for new brigadier general police officers, Danino said that the law is not discriminatory, and that enforcement does not favor any group in specific. Right-wing protesters, including Rabbi Lior himself, have claimed police discrimination against the religious group.
