Diplomat: US plan will allow some West Bank building

JERUSALEM — An annouymos diplomat has said that Israel will be allowed to complete construction of hundreds of homes in West Bank settlements under a new US-proposed settlement moratorium.
The diplomat spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Monday because the details of the deal have not been finalized.The the deal being talked about involves the US pressing Israel to renew a settlement slowdown that expired in September in order to get restart peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
The diplomat said that the new three-month slowdown, if approved, would also not apply to those homes that original moratorium did not apply to.
