Egypt border guards kill African crossing into Israel

RAFAH, Egypt (AP) —  Egyptian border guards fatally shot an African migrant and arrested another as the two tried to cross illegally into Israel Friday, security and health officials said.
The officials said the guards first fired warning shots in an attempt to stop the two, but they continued running toward the barbed wire fence south of the Egyptian border town of Rafah.
They said the arrested migrant is from Chad. The nationality of the dead man hasn't been established. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
Many African migrants seeking asylum and jobs try to cross into Israel with the help of Bedouin traffickers. Egypt has killed dozens of migrants in the past two years, drawing criticism from rights groups.
