Egypt PM dissolves Egyptian Soccer Federation

Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri announced Thursday that he has dissolved the Egyptian Soccer Federation, referring its members to prosecutors for questions following the deaths of 74 people in riots after a soccer match on Wednesday.
Ganzouri, who spoke at the newly formed Egyptian parliament, also said that Port Said's police chief and the city's governor have been suspended.
Egypt's Prosecutor-General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud ordered the detention of Port Said's security chief and head of investigations, according to Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram's English-language website.
Egyptians have blamed the police and ruling army council for failing to provide adequate security that could have prevented the riots. Other Egyptians believe that the Supreme Council of Armed Forces, the army generals that took control of the country after former president Hosni Mubarak stepped down last February, may have instigated the violence in order to accentuate fractures in Egyptian society.
