Egypt PM resumes reshuffle talks after illness

CAIRO - Egypt's Prime Minister Essam Sharaf resumed efforts to finalize his cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, a cabinet spokesman said, and an army source said the new ministers would be sworn in on Thursday.

Sharaf was taken to hospital with low blood pressure on Monday as he tried to thrash out a ministerial line-up to end days of limbo that have added to uncertainty over Egypt's political direction.

Protesters camped out in central Cairo since July 8 are demanding faster reforms and the removal of members of deposed President Hosni Mubarak's party from government.

"The Prime Minister resumed the talks today," cabinet spokesman Mohamed Hegazy said. He said no date was set for the ministers to take office.
