Egypt presidential hopeful wants to annul peace accords

Leftist Egyptian politician Hamdeen Sabahi vowed on Monday were he to become president he would seek reject the peace treat Egypt signed with Israel, and would prevent the export of natural gas to the Jewish state, Egyptian daily Al Masry Al Youm reported.
Sabahi insisted, however, that canceling the peace accords did not signal the desire to go war.
"I don't want to go to war with Israel; I am coming to wage war on poverty and corruption," Sabahi said.
Sabahi - who said he would run as independent and not on the Nasserist Dignity Party he helped establish - stressed the need to support the rights of Palestinians.
"We will open all crossings to Gaza and will support the resistance against Israel," he said according to the Egyptian newspaper, while failing to mention what kind of assistance he believed Egypt should provide to Palestinian resistance.
