Egypt protesters say new parliament 'void'

CAIRO  — Hundreds of activists and politicians protested what they said was unprecedented vote rigging in Egypt's recent parliamentary elections, challenging the legitimacy of the newly elected body.
The protest outside the Supreme Court in downtown Cairo Sunday came as Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak congratulated the ruling party for its sweeping victory, which he attributed to good preparation.Mubarak urged Egyptians to look forward to the new parliament as an advance of democracy.
Protesters, including top opposition politicians, countered that the new parliament was void. Some of the losing candidates said they are organizing a parallel popular parliament.
