Egyptians went to the polls Wednesday morning for parliamentary elections in nine provinces throughout the country, Egyptian daily Al Ahram
Voters were decide between 118 candidates to fill 59 seats in Egypt's People's Assembly, the lower of two houses in the Egyptian parliament.
The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, fairing particularly well in Egypt's first free parliamentary elections, nominated 47 candidates. Salafist Al Nour party nominated 36, and independent parties nominated 10.
Three members of a cluster of Egypt's liberal parties were nominated, and the Wafd party, one of Egypt's oldest political factions, nominated one.
