Eini about strike: I hope we reach an understanding

Chairman of the Histadrut Labor Federation Ofer Eini said Sunday that an understanding was possible in last-ditch efforts to prevent a general strike, Army Radio reported.

"I hope we reach an understanding," he said before entering negotiations with the Finance Ministry over providing full employment to government contractors.

In the same breath, Eini accused the government of not following its own laws. "The nation has turned into the biggest criminal, running from the law it passed itself."

Earlier in the day, he challenged Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to "show leadership and take initiative - there is still time before 6 a.m," when the strike is slated to go into effect.
