Eini warns of general strike if no agreement on contractors

Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini on Tuesday threatened a general strike after the holidays if the Finance Ministry does not meet with him and work to reach an agreement aimed at reducing the number of contractors employed by the state.
"I hope that the Treasury meets with us and reaches an agreement to reduce the use of contractors," Eini told Army Radio. "If not, it looks like we'll have a general strike" in two weeks.
"All of the organized workers in Israel will strike," he added.
The Histadrut chairman said that the social justice movement over the summer put the platform on the forefront.
In the past, he explained, the labor union did all that it was capable on the issue of contractors. Now, after the social justice movement, he said, "I have the wind at my back."
