Eldad: Hanegbi verdict setback for fight against corruption

Chairman of the Knesset Lobby for the Struggle Against Corruption MK Arye Eldad (National Union) reacted with immense displeasure on Tuesday upon hearing the court's verdict in the case of Kadima MK Tzahi Hanegbi.  Eldad went as far as to suggest that Hanegbi suspend himself from any public positions he holds.
"This is a very bad day for those who fight political appointments in order to clean up the corridors of power in Israel. If he can get away with bragging about his political appointments, other politicians won't worry about appointing their horse as a senator," said Eldad.
He continued, "[Hanegbi] should suspend himself from the Knesset and any other public post due to the perjury charges and allow his Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee to return to serving its purpose of parliamentary oversight over the defense establishment and foreign affairs policies instead of allowing him to try kiss up to Netanyahu and Barak in order to bring Kadima into the government."
