Emergency medical care has been added to the long list of subjects on which high school pupils may take matriculation exams. The Na'amat-owned Ayanot Youth Village near Nes Ziona, in the Gan Raveh Regional Council, will in the next school year offer courses for a matriculation exam at a level of five units. A senior team of Magen David Adom and Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in Tzrifin will teach the courses jointly, starting in the 2010 school year. The number of places will be limited. The pupils will learn the basics in emergency medicine that will train them to continue their training at an MDA station and learn how to cope with mass catastrophes and work in an intensive care ambulance. Each pupil will have a personal trainer and participate in advanced learning at the hospital. MDA said that the remarkable program could supply well-trained personnel to the first-aid and ambulance organization. Outstanding graduates will have the possibility of being trained as advanced paramedics.
