Erdan calls for ministerial committee for renewable energy

Erdan calls for minister

Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan has called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to form a ministerial committee to promote renewable energy, the ministry said Monday. According to an analysis by McKinsey & Co., in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Israel has to get to 25% of electricity production from renewables by 2030. The committee would remove regulatory and legislative obstacles, and streamline land allocation processes and other necessities for pushing forward the industry. Erdan suggested the other members of the committee should be the national infrastructures, interior, defense, agriculture, industry trade and labor, and finance ministers.
