European Central Bank to intervene in bond markets

BRUSSELS — The European Central Bank it has decided to intervene in bond markets as part of the EU's euro defense package.
The bank said Monday that the action was designed "to ensure depth and liquidity in those market segments which are dysfunctional."The scope of the intervention will be determined by the bank's governing council.
Monetary policy stance will not be affected, the bank said in a statement.
