Expat voting bill referred to special coalition committee

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation on Sunday referred a private member's bill allowing Israelis living abroad to participate in elections to a special coalition committee to hammer out the details of the legislation.
The bill was initiated by a group of Yisrael Beiteinu legislators headed by MK Alex Miller and would allow anyone registered in the Population Registry and carrying an Israeli passport which has been valid for at least 10 years to vote.
Miller told The Jerusalem Post his party was prepared to compromise on the details of the legislation.
