Fatah, Hamas renew talks in Cairo

Fatah and Hamas met in Cairo on Sunday to renew reconciliation talks, Wafa Palestine News and Info Agency reported.
Efforts by the two parties to form a unified government stalled in July when Hamas refused to consider Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's nomination of PA Prime Minister Salam Fayad for the presidency of the unified government.
Talks in Cairo, led by Fatah's Azza al-Ahmad and Hamas's Mussa Abu Marzuk were intended to address that issue, as well as several others, including the preparation for municipal elections in October, Ma'an News Agency reported.
