A fight broke out Friday between Christian and Muslim residents of the Lower Galilee village of Ilavon.
During the confrontation, bullets were fired into the air, and a stun grenade went off. While no one was wounded, the local council building and a number of vehicles in the area were damaged.
In response, police forces entered the area and arrested eight suspects.
Local police issued a statement in which they said that disturbances to the peace during the Muslim feast of Id al-Adha, "will not be tolerated, no matter the religious background of any suspects."
