Finance C'tee approves Sheshinski Bill

After days of hard lobbying among coalition members by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, the Knesset's Finance Committee held a marathon session late into Wednesday evening and approved the so-called Sheshinski Bill for its second and third plenum readings.

The bill, government-sponsored legislation that adopts the majority of recommendations submitted earlier this year regarding taxation of those who benefit from Israel's natural gas and oil resources, previously received mixed support among coalition Mks.
