Fischer dismisses rumor he will be Israel's next president

Bank of Israel chief Stanley Fischer dismissed rumors Monday that he is interested in serving as Israel's next president, saying the nature of his economic work does not make him qualify him for the job.
"I am of the opinion that the personal and professional experience I have gained does not qualify me to serve as the president of the state of Israel," Fischer said during an economics lecture for students at Tel Aviv University.
Fischer was addressing a Calaclist report that claimed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had passed along the idea that Fischer would succeed Shimon Peres as Israel's next president.
