Fischer: Socioeconomic changes will take time

The socioeconomic changes that housing protesters have requested "won't come today, they will take time," Bank of Israel chief Stanley Fischer told Channel 10 news Monday.
As for solutions to the problems presented, Fischer said that that "quick fixes can work for a week and then become a problem." He stressed that protesters would be misguided to insist on such "magic changes."
As for Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, Fischer said that he didn't have a specific criticism of the Steinitz, and that his job is not "to lend out money in every which direction," but rather to "oversee and allocate public funds."
