FM meets Japan's PM, 'satisfied' with bilateral relations

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman met with Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on Tuesday, and expressed his satisfaction with the development of Israel-Japan bilateral relations.

Lieberman stressed that the two countries had many mutual interests in the realms of international security, economics and the development of alternative energy sources, and expressed his gratitude to Hatoyama for Japan's support of Israel's acceptance into the OECD.

Hatoyama said it was important to promote the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.

Lieberman and Hatoyama also discussed the Iranian nuclear issue, which is due to be debated this month in the United Nations Security Council.
