France: Arab nations oppose NATO control of Libya action

BRUSSELS - Arab nations do not want the military intervention under way in Libya to be placed under NATO control, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said on Monday.
Juppe also told a news conference he hoped Muammar Gaddafi's government would collapse from within under pressure from the coalition of world powers enforcing a UN resolution aimed at protecting civilians caught up in attacks on rebels.
"The Arab League does not want the operation to be placed completely under NATO's responsibility," Juppe said. "It's not NATO which has taken the initiative today."
