France condemns publishing of tenders for J'lem building

France on Wednesday condemned Israel's decision to publish tenders for the construction of 300 housing units in Pisgat Ze'ev and and Har Homa beyond the Green Line in Jerusalem.

A French Foreign Ministry statement classified the neighborhoods as settlements and said that the plans for construction in them constitute a breach of international law.

The statement added that the publishing of the tenders was particularly unfortunate because it coincided with, and could damage, efforts to renew peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

The French Foreign Ministry released an additional statement praising the sides for setting an additional meeting between negotiators in Jordan.
