France: Former president Jacques Chirac to go on trial

Former French president Jacques Chirac will stand trial for charges that he concocted a scheme to have Paris City Hall cover the costs of work that benefited his political party when he was mayor, Associated Press reported on Sunday.
Chirac, 78, will be the first French former president to go on trial since World War II.
If convicted, he could be sent to prison for up to 10 years and fined $210,000, reported AP.
