Gaddafi forces attack rebels on Ajdabiyah outskirts

AJDABIYAH, Libya - Muammar Gaddafi's forces fired rockets on Sunday at Libyan rebels stationed outside the eastern strategic town of Ajdabiyah, witnesses said.
One witness said he saw around a dozen rockets land around the western gateway to the town, a focus of weeks of back-and-forth clashes with Gaddafi loyalists. Many rebels fled the attack.
"There are still some guys (rebels) out there at the western gate but the situation isn't very good," said Wassim el-Agouri, a 25-year-old rebel volunteer waiting at Ajdabiyah's eastern gate.
A Reuters reporter standing near the eastern gate heard several explosions boom across the town.
