CAIRO - A gang kidnapped the great-nieceof Egypt's former President Anwar Sadat on her way to school and
held her for 21 hours until her father paid a ransom, Egyptian securitysources and state media said on Monday.The family reported the abduction to the police, who trackeddown the kidnappers on Monday, arrested them and retrieved theransom, a security official said on condition of anonymity.
Zeina Effat Sadat, 12, was snatched from a chauffeur-drivencar in the upmarket northern Cairo suburb of Heliopolis onSunday morning, the sources said.
The abductors phoned her father Effat Sadat, a businessman,former parliamentarian and nephew of the president assassinatedin 1981, to demand a ransom of 5 million Egyptian pounds($839,600).
