Gantz: Rabin understood the importance of the IDF budget

Speaking at a memorial for late prime minister Yitzhak Rabin on Monday, Chief of General-Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz spoke of cuts expected to be made in the defense budget.

"Rabin never took his eyes off of the critical importance of allocating resources to the IDF, in order to safeguard the security of Israel," Gantz said at the memorial service.

At this time, he continued, "in which the State of Israel's strategic map is as unstable and complicated as ever, it is on us to navigate the ship of security under the values that Rabin embodied and draw strength and faith from the image of a direct and modest leader who dedicated his life to the security of Israel."
