Gelfand trails half-way through chess final

Israel’s Boris Gelfand lost ground to defending-champion Viswanathan Anand in the four-game face-off final in Moscow on Wednesday, which will decide the World Chess Championship.
The first rapid game ended in a draw, and mistakes in the second game led to a loss for the Israeli. Without a swift recovery in the final two games, Gelfland will cede his chance to take the title.
Despite entering the showdown as a clear underdog, the 44-year-old Israeli has proven that he is more than worthy as a contender to be the 16th world champion since 1886.
