General strike begins; labor court mum over injunction

A general strike began Monday at 6 a.m., after the National Labor Court failed to announce a decision on a petition calling for an injunction against strike by the time it began.
The court finished its hearings over the petition in the early hours of Monday morning, but judges did not announce a final decision.
Most of the public sector was set to shut down for an indefinite period under the strike, including airports, seaports, mass transportation, local authorities, government offices, hospitals and universities.
