German bank votes to expel Sarrazin after racist comments

The German central bank voted unanimously in favor of dismissing board member Thilo Sarrazin on Thursday, following racist comments stereotyping Muslims and Jews.

The comments by Thilo Sarrazin surrounding the launch of his new book Monday on immigration issues sparked outrage from German lawmakers and community leaders, and many agreed with Chancellor Angela Merkel that he should be removed from the bank's board.

Sarrazin was expected to appeal the bank's decision.
