Germany condemns PKK attack, warns against border violence

Germany condemned the PKK attack on Turkish soldiers in southern Turkey on Wednesday and urged the governments in Ankara and Baghdad, and also the governing powers in northern Iraq, to launch a common dialogue.
Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle expressed in a statement sorrow at the deaths of 24 Turkish soldiers in attacks on the Turkey-Iraq border.
He also said that Germany was concerned over the growing violence in Turkey since the June 2012 elections and said Berlin did not want to see the Turkey-Iraq border used as a withdrawal zone by militant groups such as the PKK.
Turkey pursued PKK militants into northern Iraq, killing at least 15 according to Reuters.
