Gilad Schalit's grandfather Tzvi and sister Hadas were on their way from Kiryat Ata to the Tel Nof Air Force Base for the release of the kidnapped soldier.
The family members were being transported in a police convoy.
Gilad's parents, Noam and Aviva, were reportedly already waiting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz at the military base.
