Grunis: Courts must ensure that gov't respects rights

New Supreme Court President Asher Grunis said Tuesday that the Supreme Court and the entire justice system must ensure that the legislative and executive branches of government respect the rights of the individual and work for the general interest.

Speaking at his swearing-in ceremony at the President's Residence in Jerusalem, Grunis praised his predecessor Dorit Beinisch for protecting the independence of the court against attempts to weaken it.
