Haifa municipal employee accused of soliciting bribes

An employee of Haifa's Municipal Engineering Department has been accused of attempting to solicit bribes and commit financial improprieties Thursday, according to an Army Radio report.

The accusation came after a restaurant owner in the city forwarded an official complaint after he was requested to demolish illegally installed roofing in his establishment.

He was subsequently advised that he could alternatively resolve the matter by making a payment of NIS 10,000 to an employee of the Engineering Department in city hall.
