Hamas official denies plans for Abbas, Mashaal meeting

There is no date scheduled for a meeting between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal to jumpstart the stalled Palestinian unity deal, Palestinian Ma'an news agency quoted a Hamas official as saying Sunday.

Speaking after a trip to Turkey with Mashaal, the Hamas official, Azet Al-Rashq, denied what he called "media reports" that such a meeting was in the works.

The official insisted that Hamas was committed to Palestinian reconciliation and the "completion" of the unity deal that was signed by Mashaal and Abbas in Doha, Qatar in February.
