Hamas official: Netanyahu is holding back Schalit deal

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan told Al Hayat Tuesday that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was not willing to "pay the price" required to complete the prisoner-swap deal in order to secure the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Schalit.
Hamdan argued that Hamas had accepted an offer to release two groups of prisoners, one numbering 450 and the second 550, but that Israel had backed away from that deal after initially proposing it.
The Hamas officials said that the Islamic group is firm in its position, and that if both sides are resolute in pursuing the agreements set out in the current proposition, then Israel and Hamas can likely reach a final settlement.
