Haredi man arrested for harassing women over 'modest dress'

A Haredi resident of Modiin Illit was arrested on Monday morning on suspicion of verbally harassing women he deemed were "dressed immodestly."
Judea and Samaria police say at least four complaints have been lodged against the suspect in recent days, though some of the alleged offenses took place months ago.
The most recent alleged incident took place on Sunday, police said. The suspect allegedly shouted verbal abuse at non-Haredi women. He is being questioned.
The arrest is part of increased enforcement by police against extremist conduct targeting women, and comes on the back of police intervention in other flash points, including buses in Jerusalem and Bet Shemesh.
Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharnovitch has encouraged members of the public to complain over attempts to exclude women in the public sphere, and over verbal assaults.
