Health Ministry warns against taking unsupervised medicine

The Health Ministry warned the public on Thursday not to take medications without consulting a doctor -- even an over-the-counter (OTC) drug like aspirin -- as this could endanger health and even kill.
A University of Oxford research team published in The Lancet on Tuesday claimed that taking low-dose aspirin daily for at least five years could significantly reduce the risk of cancers.
However, taking aspirin without supervision could be toxic and cause internal bleeding, including a stroke and stomach hemorrhage.
